First gig where you were older than the lead singer ?
if you stick with your early bands it can be YEARS before this happens

(support bands and festivals don't count)

Earlier this year around Feb\\March.Saw Greta Van Fleet at the O2 Islington and the singer Josh Kiska was 21 at the time and I'm 46.Strange really as given their blatantly obvious comparisons to Led Zeppelin the audience was without doubt the most age diverse I've ever seen.

Re: First gig where you were older than the lead singer ?
I've had a real think about this because all the sixties bands original personnel and lead singers [ if they had one ] were or are older than me. That is right up until I went to see a band with a recent hit calling themselves Status Quo. That must have been 1969/70. Parfitt and Rossi shared the singing duties.

Incredibly after 40 years of gigs, it only happened this summer when I took my kids to Capital Radio’s Summertime Ball ... talk about going to yw other extreme when I am used to seeing artists now in their 60s or 70s (or have since died) to seeing such youths !!!

Re: First gig where you were older than the lead singer ?
Tough one as like a proper old fart, I've mostly stuck to seeing bands that I liked when I was much younger.

Would therefore likely be either Paramore, Biffy Clyro or Alter Bridge (just).

Blimey could be a number of bands but I think it was probably Spontaneous Combustion at the Chez Club in Leytonstone supporting Stray

Re: First gig where you were older than the lead singer ?
I believe it would have been Tom Barman, of dEUS. Early 90s.

I didn't think about it at the time, and I'm not sure it would have bothered me; not like I am now bothered that not only am I older than the football players I watch, but I'm now older than quite a few managers. Fuck that.

Joe Strummer. I'm guessing that all punks were younger than me but I didn't see many punk bands play. Saw the Clash in 1978 though.

Everybody's younger than me now.

Probably Silverchair in '97

Though it was at a festival and I would not have gone to them alone. Nothing against them, had some decent songs.
